Constelar is a research capsule founded in 2026 by Florence Woodfield Morais that focusses on research and development for artists based in the North-Eastern and Northern regions of Brazil, including the Amazon region.
Constelar has as an objective to create new 'constellations' of connections, contacts and shared ideas between North-Eastern/Northern Brazil, and the UK. Historically underestimated within Brazil itself, this region holds a unique importance for global biodiversity and huge potential for the agricultural, economic and cultural development within Brazil, and internationally.
Constelar aims to offer two annual residencies to Brazilian artists based in the North/North-Eastern regions to London. The residency will consist of accommodation and studio access, plus mentorship by Florence Woodfield Morais and other experienced industry mentors. Opportunities to exhibit work may also arise, although not guaranteed.
Constelar will also hold symposia, lectures and events that have as an objective to create new 'constellations' of connections, shared ideas and opportunities between artists and art industry figures in Brazil and the UK.
